It’s part of the proposed 2018 budget.Gwinnett Chairwoman Charlotte Nash said more than half those positions are to staff a new police precinct set to open in 2019 in the Loganville area. She said the remainder of the positions will be scattered throughout the county.“We don’t have a substitute for a police officers out in the police car, in the community responding to calls,” she said.Nash said Gwinnett needs more officers with the county’s population growing 15 to 20 thousand a year.Commissioners have until Jan. 2 to make a final vote on the budget.
